Do you think by 100 years from now everyone will be a mix of races and the whole idea of race will no longer exist? I hope so.

Not within 100 years, no. I did hear on the radio yesterday the idea that America was "browning." Apparently, if one were to mix all of the colors (like crayons), the resulting color would be brownish. So, America is obviously a melting pot, but there are still some countries that are not as diverse and tend to marry and reproduce with others of the same race/religion/creed. It may happen, but it will take awhile.

I think history has shown us that people will find a way to categorize themselves into hierarchies regardless of any actual differences that do or do not exist. We could all be exactly the same color in 100 years, and I think that we'd still differentiate ourselves. We might not call it race, but it would be the same idea. Like it or not (I don't particularly), it's an enduring feature of humanity. Scientists have all but eliminated the concept of race, but it's still kicking in the public consciousness.

But race isn't going to disppear in 100 years anyway. People of different races being born today might still be alive then! It's going to take a good number of generations before we reach a state of homogenous phenotypes worldwide, if it ever happens. I'd give it 1000 years, minimum. Realistically, it probably will take much longer than that, or it won't happen at all.

There is no biological proof that race exists. Humans are a race and there are no races within that race. If you're asking if everyone will look the "same" in 100 years, the answer is no. There will still be black people, white people, etc. Skin tone is an adaptive feature that depends on climate. (White people come from colder regions than Black people, for example [Sweden receives less sun than Africa]). Basically, everyone will look roughly the same as they do now in 100 years, unless evolution speeds up and we're all super-humans.

I hope so. Race is a construct anyway, something we don't ahve to believe in. There is no gene for race. I wonder if people will stop using the construct of race before all the 'races' as we know them blend together.

I saw an article, can't find it now, but it said some researchers ran a computer model and found where the last white person in the world would be (somewhere in Scandanavia I imagine).

That may be a fact, but look at the races today that are so mingled and mixed, they will and still do hold on to some of where they come from, who they were. Matter of fact, I think they will cross the divide of race but then you will have sexes, wanna be sexes, economic standing and where in the world you are from.......100 years is not that far off and I don't think it will bring about a really big change.

Remember that not just color or geography defines race. Language is one of the things that really differentiates people despite all the rest. Even different accents within the same language (think about the diff. between some parts of Texas or the deep South as compared with California) can cause certain types of racial issues.

We should not let racism erase our pride in our heritage - - I think that is key, since the idea of "race" will most likely, and very unfortunately, be around for a long time.

I hope so, yet I honestly don't think that prejudice will disappear in a 100 year timeframe. Unfortunately, I have to be pessimistic about it, since, for thousands of years men have found ways of remaining stupidly afraid of the people that seem different from them in any way, and unfortunately, during that time, greedy leaders have used those same stupid fears to get groups of different people to fight each other. Whether it has been Chinese fighting Mongolians, Greeks fig ting Romans, Germans fighting Jews, whites fighting blacks, Americans fighting Mexicans, etc ...unfortunately racial prejudice has always existed in our species, and doesn't look like it will end anytime soon :-( ...Though, I'd be really happy if it did.

100 years is not long enough for that to come about naturally.

In fact, I think we are heading for a slowing of the rate at which races are mixing.

The United States is trying to strengthen its border with Mexico. Australia is trying to strengthen its border with Indonesia. I understand that Great Britain is reviewing Australia's immigration legislation to see if it can be adapted for use there.

and in Europe there has been simmering racial unrest.

my point is that the blending of the races, made possible by international migration and relaxed attitudes to mixed marriages encouraged by social justice policies, is about to encounter resistance from governments seeking to stem the tide of economic refugees.

No -it'll still be around. Evolutionarily speaking, 100 years is no time at all. Maybe eventually the human population will be so mixed that we won't differentiate ourselves using race, but given human nature, I'm sure we'll find someother way to disagree for a stupid reaosn.

I don't think that will happen in 100 years but surely it must happen within the next few centuries? I read that blonde hair is set to die out within the next 200 years and ginger hair before that, so that would be the start of everyone begining to mix.

no the mixing itself creates a new race as with most americans. caucasian for example is mix of races and is concidered a race. europeans are not caucasian they are..watever french german watever it is they are. besides if that were to happen it would be much longer than 100 yrs from now. think of it like with dogs. races are just differen breeds of human

impossible to declare, yet judging from the previous we are due for yet another significant extinction some time quickly, (some million years) This time although we'd be progressed adequate to bypass some people to a diverse planet and repopulate Earth at a later date.

races dont exist, its just something people invented. hopefully, in less than 100 years, all people will be aware of this.

No way. It will never happen. It a good thought, though. It would make the world a whole lot better if people could just learn tolerance.

Eventually our species will homogenize, but not in 100 years.
