Some modern-day pyramids HAVE been built. For the most part, they are not funerary buildings (tombs) like those the ancient Egyptians built and some built by the ancient Maya, nor have they tended to be temple and building bases as were many of the "pyramids" built by the ancient Aztecs, Maya and other peoples and found in Mexico and Central America.

Here are links to images of some present-day pyramids:

* Transamerica Tower, San Francisco, California: http://tinyurl.com/43n2867

* Gold Pyramid House, Wadsworth, Illinois: http://tinyurl.com/3zwa769

* Links to lots of images of pyramid shaped houses: http://tinyurl.com/44mon44

* Slovak Radio building, Bratislava, Slovak Republic: http://tinyurl.com/3fdh4zf

* Building along river, Sacremento, California: http://tinyurl.com/3vatel9

I hope those are enough images to give you the idea that humans are still building pyramidal shaped buildings.

Wrong question. First ask, 'what did they build the pyramids for..?' or 'why did they build them..?'

If you were a Pharaoh then you were a Star-God and your home was away on the Planet Orion. That's really what they believed. The Pharaoh died and was interred in a chamber with a tunnel angled exactly up and aligned with Orion, to enable the Pharaoh to make his last celestial journey. It was something like a launching pad.' There was a whole ritual around all this, including the new Pharaoh having the break the jaw of the corpse as part of the send-off ceremony.

The pyramid tombs got more elaborate as time went by, from lower stepped pyramids called Mustabas to the final biggest models which were engineered exactly according to very specific measurements.

It is interesting to note that the huge collection of artifacts from Tutankhamen in Cairo were the final remains and gold ornaments and the like, all part of a very minor king and tucked away under a pile of sand and rubbish, so it wasn't looted as were all the spectacular big collections.

So..? Why would we want to build pyramids today..?

The modern day pyramid is a skyscraper, so in our own way, we do. The reason we don't create pyramids is because with such advanced technology and a poor economy, it's more convenient to build towers and buildings.

I think its because we figured out ways to live allot lazier and now we are just to many fat slobs to actually get anything done.. we wanna watch reality tv and eat a pizza not build a pyramid

Maybe one day when we invent robot slaves they can build us great pyramids while we eat donuts and have virtual sex all day.. Then the robots destroy us just like we did our old masters who made us to make their pyramids ...oops To much info

Because building a pyramid would probably be a waste of time and resources.

The pyramids are still a mystery. Never solved how they built the pyramids and the triangle and the square problem.
